ALCOHOL SALES BANNED DURING LOCK DOWN IN TURKEY

Thursday May April 29, Turkey will move to a full closure period and a nonstop curfew will be imposed until 05: 00 in the morning of May 17, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said after a cabinet meeting yesterday.

All workplaces will take a break from their activities, except for organizations that are excluded in areas such as production, manufacturing, food, decontamination, health, as specified in the circular of the Ministry of Interior.

The sale of alcohol was not allowed in curfews imposed on weekends. For this reason, whether the practice will continue in the’ full closure ‘ process has been the subject of debate.

While the circular issued by the Ministry of Interior on the restrictions did not contain a clear statement that the sale of alcohol would be prohibited, the president of the Association of Monopoly dealers said that monopoly dealers from the social media account would also be open between 10.00 and 17.00 during the closing period and that was not covered by the ban. “There is no prohibition on the sale of Alcohol. We made the necessary negotiations and reviewed the circular. No product-based restrictions. There is only a limitation for the duration of the activity. There are no restraining orders or restraining orders that have reached us through the sale of alcohol,” he said.

SÖZCÜ (newspaper) asked the Interior Ministry about the matter. A senior official said the ban on the sale of alcohol would apply throughout the 17-day closure process. Tekel Bayileri (concerned dealers) would not be able to sell alcoholic beverages, neither would grocery stores.
