Investment with the highest return for investors in October announced

In October, the investment with the highest real return on a monthly basis was bullion gold, which provided investors a 3.20% gain against inflation.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) released data on the inflation-adjusted returns of investment instruments for October. The highest monthly real return was seen in bullion gold, with a rate of 4.82% when adjusted with the domestic producer price index (Yİ-ÜFE) and 3.20% when adjusted with the consumer price index (TÜFE).

According to TÜİK, when adjusted by Yİ-ÜFE, deposit interest (gross) provided investors with a 2.03% real return, while the U.S. dollar returned 0.71%, government bonds (DİBS) returned 0.99%, Euro lost 2.42%, and the BIST 100 index lost 10.81%. Adjusted by TÜFE, deposit interest (gross) yielded a 0.46% real return, while the U.S. dollar lost 2.25%, government bonds lost 2.52%, Euro lost 3.93%, and the BIST 100 index lost 12.19%.

Gold Leading in Returns

Over a three-month period, bullion gold provided the highest real return for investors, at 15.00% adjusted with Yİ-ÜFE and 10.60% adjusted with TÜFE. During the same period, the BIST 100 index saw the highest losses, at 22.03% adjusted with Yİ-ÜFE and 25.01% with TÜFE.

For a six-month period, deposit interest (gross) gave investors the highest real return, with 12.61% adjusted by Yİ-ÜFE and 5.22% adjusted by TÜFE. Over this same period, the BIST 100 index recorded the largest losses, at 16.03% with Yİ-ÜFE and 21.54% with TÜFE.

Bullion Gold’s Annual Real Return is Also the Highest

When financial investment instruments were evaluated annually, bullion gold again provided the highest real return, with 31.34% adjusted by Yİ-ÜFE and 16.89% by TÜFE.

For the annual evaluation, adjusted with Yİ-ÜFE, deposit interest (gross) lost 1.58%, Euro lost 4.07%, U.S. dollar lost 7.16%, government bonds lost 9.03%, and the BIST 100 index lost 16.56%. When adjusted with TÜFE, deposit interest (gross) lost 12.40%, Euro lost 14.62%, U.S. dollar lost 17.37%, government bonds lost 19.03%, and the BIST 100 index lost 25.74%.
