IRAN URANIUM ENRICHMENT

Iran has started enriching uranium to 60 percent purity at its nuclear facility in Fordo in response to a decision taken by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Directors led by the United States, Britain, France and Germany. The agency had announced that it had reached nuclear findings at three points that Tehran had not reported and demanded a technical explanation.

According to Iranian state television, Iran announced that it had begun enriching uranium at a high level in response to the decision taken by the IAEA Board of Directors against it on the grounds that it “did not cooperate adequately with the IAEA”.

It was stated that in this context, the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency had started the process of enriching uranium to 60 percent purity at the nuclear facility in Fordo and increased the amount of uranium enriched at this rate.
