Is Turkey an attractive market for renewable energy?

"Share this post on social media, spread the news"

Turkey, in parallel to its fast economic development is certainly a very appealing market for several sectors and industries.

Renewable energy opportunities in Turkey is considerede to be  among the most important fields of interests for instance.

In fact this business is growing quite fast and Turkey has recently been intoduced to wind energy especially.

The critical point is that Turkey actually has the second highest wind capacity in Europe after Scotland. To provide a more precise idea for instance, Germany only has a 25% to 30% wind load factor potential depending on the location. Turkey on the other hand has a potential of between 35-45% which makes a substantial difference in the renewable energy business, as recorded by experts.

On the other hand and on top of this big advantage in regards to renewable energy opportunities, the country also possesses the second highest solar capacity in Europe – after Spain that is. When we compare the two we find solar energy technology is still not economical and hope the basics – meaning first investment costs and all – will settle down in time.

Sincerely speaking it would have been really favorable for Turkey to focus more strongly on wind energy as compared to covnetional sources.

As for the availability of the technology required to get this sector going in the country, Turkey needs some time to get on the road

We know that the country needs to export most parts to accomplish projects locally, but we can also observe that some major companies with interest in the sector have already started to look for way to bring down investment costs – that is by trying to produce  parts locally.

Those companies have to certify the parts with the large companies that assemble these components: GE, Vestas, and Nordex. An international certification is in question so parts can be used in the the production of wind plant

All in all, the picture says a bright future is awaiting the entrepreneurs that would consider to invest in the wind energy sector in Turkey.
