Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality displays great performance in coronavirus crisis

The Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul headed by Mayor Ekrem IMAMOGLU has shown great performance since the beginning of covid-19 crisis and thus earned appreciation of the citizens in town. The mayor has kept loyal to his principle of transparency and updated the residents of Istanbul, regularly.

After the Municipality started a fundraising campaign 12604 citizens have donated TL 6,529,000 to be used to support citizens in need. Among the services provided by the municipality since the beginning of the crisis are following:

• Preparing 500,000 parcels of aid packages, delivering them to the needy.
• Supporting 9,000 needy families with TL 300 and TL 200 for 2 months
• Establishing the largest aid & Coordination Center in Turkey
• Launching free accommodation service for health workers
• Preparing alternative facility for citizens living on the Street
• Delivering 1 ton of food to our dear friends every day
• Allocating 80 vehicles to Provincial Directorate of Health
• Disposing of 50 tons medical waste in the quarantine zones,
• Keeping the sterilization facility in operation 24 hours
• Taking care of the horses on Princess islands
• Increasing Coronavirus measures on all public transport vehicles

Obviously, the municipality has been working efficiently to the best of their capacity and capability… and to be much more important in a most transparent manner maintaining communication with citizens in a most successful way.
