EUROPEAN PRIZE GOES TO IZMIR

Izmir was awarded the European Prize by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). CHP Chairman Kemal KILICDAROGLU also attended the award ceremony held in the Ancient City of Agora.

This year, Izmir was deemed worthy of the European Award given by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe every year. The award, which is given to the cities that most actively adopt European values and undertake to disseminate them, is defined as the highest level award given in this sense. The award ceremony was held in the Ancient City of Agora.

THESE VALUES ARE INDISPENSABLE

Speaking at the ceremony, PACE Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development Commission Chairman and CHP Izmir Deputy Selin Sayek BOKE said, “100 years ago, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk put a goal in front of Turkey. This goal was to catch and exceed the level of modern civilization. These days, this goal continues to be the light for us. The Republic of Turkey is one of the founding members of the institution, which is a defender of the rule of law, democracy, human rights and was established to glorify these values. We are a founding part of an institution established 73 years ago by saying democracy, the rule of law, human rights.”
