The covid-19 pandemic has hit the world badly taking lives of hundreds of thousands and in several countries thankfully the pandemic is now under control and said countries have already determined dates to open their doors to tourism before the season is over.

To provide an example countries such as Austria and Denmark seem to be acting real regarding the issue, while it seems some others like Spain are likely to live in extraordinary conditions for weeks to come.  It is reported that Austria is going to open its borders on June 15. Hotels and hostels in the country are also expected to open at the end of this month. Some hotels in the north of Italy will start serving from May 25.

Experts draw attention to the point that European Union foreign ministers are holding talks to open the borders. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is also reported to have discussed the lifting of restrictions imposed due to the corona virus outbreak at the borders with the prime ministers of Poland, Hungary, Czechia and Slovakia. Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czechia and Slovakia are said to have agreed on the phasing out of existing restrictions and controls on the borders, according to the prevailing conditions of the outbreak spread.

On the other hand some European Union member states are not only opening borders, but also making efforts to open the tourist season. For example, Germany and its neighbor Austria are working to open the tourist season as soon as possible. If there is no rise in the corona virus outbreak, the borders between the two countries will be opened on June 15. Restaurants are already opened in Austria. Hotels and hostels are also scheduled to start service at the end of this month.

As far as the Netherlands is concerned, even in the days when the corona virus epidemic spread rapidly, the border between Germany and the Netherlands was not closed. From June 1 in the Netherlands, restaurants and cafes will be allowed to accept a limited number of customers. Cinemas and museums will also open their doors. From June 1, summer campsites and parks where tourists can reside outside will begin serving. Businesses have a requirement that they comply with designated hygiene conditions.

Some countries such as Denmark have not yet opened borders. However, the administration is reported to have announced that they have been carrying out work to enable German tourists to travel in his country. German tourists will be allowed to book summer houses and hotels in Denmark. The Danish government has also informed it will announce new decisions to open the tourist season starting in early June.

Experts report that Greece is one of the EU countries preparing for summer tourism. Ancient cities and places visited by tourists have already been opened. By the end of June, hotels and summer cottages will begin serving domestic tourism.  Officials have declared that starting July 1st, the administration will make efforts to open hotels and beaches to foreign tourists. They also noted that the country had allowed freedom of travel, hotels had made final preparations and archeological sites were open.

As for Turkey, based on statements made by the Health Minister tourism season has not been started yet. However, the authority has started health tourism as off today. Further decisions will be made accoring to developments in the coming days. It seems that coıuntries with heavy experience of damage due to epidemic will not be preferred as the first choice.
