Ministry issues circular for markets in 81 provinces to introduce new restrictions

Ministry of Interior has sent circular on “market measures” to 81 provincial governorates. According to the circular, markets will not be allowed the sale of any products other than products covered by the mandatory basic needs of citizens.

In the circular, the procedures and principles related to the curfew restriction applied in the process of full closure were determined and announced to the governors.

HERE ARE THE NEW MEASURES

In the circular, measures taken as a result of interviews with relevant ministries, public institutions and organizations, professional chambers and representatives of the sector were listed as follows in order to prevent the intensity that may occur in grocery stores during the curfew restriction:

* Grocery stores (including chains and supermarkets) will not allowed the sale of any products other than products covered by the mandatory basic needs of citizens.

* From Friday 7 May 2021, only animal feed, food and cosmetics (excluding perfumery and cosmetics) as well as basic food and cleaning products can be sold in grocery stores (including chains and supermarkets) .

* Sale of products such as electronic goods, toys, stationery, clothing and accessories, home textile, auto accessories, garden tools hardware, housewares, etc. will not be allowed in markets (to include chain and super markets) on top of restrictions imposed earlier for sale of alcoholic products.

* In accordance with these principles, in accordance with Articles 27 and 72 of the Public Hygiene Law, the Provincial/District Public Hygiene boards will take decisions immediately.

* Audit teams, especially police officers and law enforcement agencies, will carry out the communiques and controls on this issue in full.
