Opposition strictly warns companies not to participate in Kanal Istanbul project

KILICDAROGLU and AKSENER leaders of CHP and IYI Party that form opposition have made very important statements having to do with construction of KANAL ISTANBUL – a project not preferred by majority of Turks. A couple of days ago President ERDOGAN responded to the statement made by opposition saying “Payments would not be made to parties to enter Canal Istanbul tender, when opposition wins election and gets hold of power”.

In reply to said statements Erdogan said “They will get their monies by force – making reference to contracts to be made with international courts shown therein as institutions authorized in case of dispute”

In reply to Erdogan’s message, AKSENER said,

“Mr. President has responded to the words we said about the companies that would enter the tender. It is understood that Mr. Erdogan has realized that they cannot be in power after the first election to come, they cannot win the election. It is not clear (meaning, based on his statement) whether Mr. Erdogan is the president of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish nation or the defender of Western countries and others such as China(likely to enter the tender) and their laws, making reference to arbitration.

Everything is happening in front of the people. I will say again on behalf of my own party, here. I am addressing all domestic and foreign companies to get involved in this tender. We will certainly be in power after the first election and we will certainly not pay these monies. I think it’s good that everybody knows in advance. Mr. Erdogan seems to have accepted this, as well.”
