Pamukkale, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also attracting attention with hot air balloon tours. Hot air balloon tours, which started in Pamukkale 10 years ago, have turned into a sector in the region with the increasing number of tourists every year. Currently, 19 companies operate with 40 balloons in Pamukkale, and last year, 107,000 tourists had the opportunity to view the region from the air.

Tours start with sunrise

Those who want to participate in the balloon tour come to the designated take-off points in the travertine region before sunrise. Some tourists also gather in the same area to watch the flights. Tourists who watch the preparation of the balloons take photos with colorful balloons.

Balloons rise to about 2,000 meters and stay in the air for an average of 45 minutes

Nevzat Köse, who provides balloon tour services in the region, said that the tourist potential increases every year. Köse stated that visitors have the opportunity to view the unique beauties of Pamukkale from the air and said:

“This year, we expect the number of tourists participating in balloon tours to increase by approximately two-fold compared to last year, reaching 200,000 people. Tourists from Russia and Poland show the most interest in hot air balloons. During the winter season, we host more guests from Latin America and the Far East. Pamukkale region has a magnificent nature and geographical structure in the aviation field. This feature allows air tourism to develop more and more every day here. Hot air balloon flights can be made in Pamukkale for 12 months, its geographical structure and climate conditions are very favorable.”

Köse added that Pamukkale is the second-largest balloon flight area in Turkey.
