"Share this post on social media, spread the news"

After a meeting of the Presidential Cabinet held via video conference from the Huber Pavilion in Tarabya President Erdogan made important statements. He said that they had just completed their meeting and that they had evaluated the economic developments and security issues related to the Coronavirus outbreak in particular.

In his speech, President Erdogan announced new decisions on the fight against coronavirus. Announcing the ban on the sale of paid masks, Erdogan also shared that two epidemic hospitals would be established at Atatürk Airport and Sancaktepe.

Erdogan mentioned that the sale of masks for a fee was prohibited adding that masks given in the markets were also free. He said, “Until the outbreak is over, we have enough mask stock and production planning for all of our citizens. As a state, we are committed to delivering masks to all our citizens free of charge”.

He went on to say, “We exceeded 20 thousand daily in the number of tests to identify patients and prevent the spread of the virus and thus passed another important threshold. We do not have any problems with diagnosis and treatment in our hospitals. So far, we have not faced a significant issue in terms of health care, food and cleaning supplies, and public safety”.

In the meantime, we are preparing an area at Yeşilköy Atatürk Airport to serve as a hospital with 1,000 beds and we are building another hospital with 1000 rooms at  SANCAKTEPE (on the Asian side). We are planning to finish both in 45 days and put them at the service of our citizens.

In the meantime, we increased the lowest pensioner salary to TL 1500 to make them happy and provided cash contribution of 1000 TL to over 2 million 100 thousand households on low incomes.

Also, we pay two thirds of the wages of employees in our enterprises that decelerate or reduce production, not to exceed the minimum wage. We make these payments by depositing them directly into the account of the employees.

Now we have started preparations to deliver aid to another 2 million 300 thousand households. I would like to call on our citizens who have no income or who have to live on their daily income: If you contact your governorship by telephone or if you apply via e-devlet (state), our state will provide you with all kinds of support.

Our main challenge will start after the epidemic which is why we do emphasize we should maintain production. Every factory that can work will continue to produce. Our farmers will not leave a single piece of land uncultivated. Our service sector will keep its connections both inside and outside alive. We will work harder together to take our place in the strongest possible way in the new world. Not only will we make up for the losses of the epidemic, but hopefully we will make a much bigger move together.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the health workers, security officers, those who work in the food and cleaning sectors, as well as all the people who have served with their lives and supported our citizens in this process.
