Antalya, which is one of the most important destinations of Turkish tourism, has already started to make plans for winter tourism. Tourism professionals who have chosen the approximately 150 million pensioners living in Europe as their target market, think that the rapidly rising living costs in Europe will pave the way for winter tourism in Antalya. The chairman of the Antalya City Council Tourism Working Group, who has prepared a special study on this issue, stressed that rapidly rising energy prices in Europe would lead pensioners living in Germany to a long-term vacation, in particular.

The chairman gave the details of the study prepared, using current figures as follows: “According to the latest research done; natural gas is 95 percent, gasoline has increased by 35 percent, electricity by 15 percent, food and beverage by 20 percent compared to last year prices in Germany. According to a Federal Consumer Agency in said country; this year, a family with two children will have to pay 3,461 euros more for gasoline, natural gas, electricity and food and beverages compared to last year. This is the case for now, if relations with Russia come to a complete stalemate and the valves are completely closed, the problem will only get bigger.

EUROPEANS WILL MAKE CALCULATIONS

In Germany, there is a general rule regarding the household budget: 50-30-20. Accordingly, 50 percent of the costs goes for home expenses such as living, car, food, heating, housing, 30 percent is allocated for leisure, books, sports, entertainment and personal expenses and 20 percent for loans, savings, and various insurance policies etc. So the main expense has to do with the house and housing. Pensioners, who know this well, are looking to get away from this gloomy period. The only thing on their minds right now is to move to the sunny regions for a few months to spend more comfortable days escaping the rising costs.”

“While the pensioners have this plan in mind, the tourism professionals have already turned their direction to these pensioners. Europe also has a huge retired army of about 150 million people. And they are just waiting for a sign.”

“Long-term accommodation packages have always existed, but due to the circumstances, this year this has become much more important. Having studied the situation months in advance, tour operators prepared very attractive packages for European pensioners during the winter period with long-term holiday packages abroad. Antalya makes a difference to its competitors in the long-term accommodation package. Hotel alternatives from 3 stars to 5 stars, bed-and-breakfast or all-inclusive options, easy access from Europe, health infrastructure and attractive prices make Antalya stand out compared to its competitors. A holiday booking site has offered these alternatives to the liking of holidaymakers. Accordingly, Antalya constitutes the most comprehensive portfolio with 152 hotels and 56 overnight stays. In this program covering the period of February November there are very attractive hotels for every budget, for every taste.”

21 EUROS PER DAY

Giving information about prices, the professional said, “Let’s take a 4-star, well-known, preferred hotel in Kumkoy as an example. A guest will pay 1209 euros per person, for 56 overnight package programs between 15 November, 10 January 2022 covering services such as

Paying Dec January 10, 2023 for and the guest receives the following services:

Germany–Antalya from/to flight tickets, 56 Nights/days 57 all-inclusive accommodation (Breakfast-lunch-dinner – snacks throughout the day, a daily coffee & cake presentation and all local drinks) in Germany from the airport, train tickets, transfers between Antalya airport and the hotel

If we divide 1209 by 56 to find the tourist’s daily expense, the daily expense of a tourist comes to a total of 21 euros, including food, drink, accommodation. If he spends the same period at home, it is impossible for him to save the day with 21 euros, especially in winter. Besides, it’s much more tempting to turn down the valves on rainy Berlin days than to wrap yourself in a blanket and wait for winter to pass. In other words, the picture is very clear; staying in Europe this winter is more expensive than vacationing in Antalya. These opportunities offered by Antalya vary according to the hotel and the service offered. There is also a 3-star hotel where you can pay 511 euros for 56 days, and an ultra-luxury 5-star hotel for 9892 euros.

The income of pensioners is directly proportional to the salary they receive while working. That is why the alternative of 152 hotels that appeal to every pensioner is very important. Antalya has opened its doors to European pensioners for 4 months with  152 hotels, 50 thousand beds and is waiting for its guests.” (DHA/TA)
