Terror attack warning from USA, France and Germany for Turkey

The US, French and German embassies have issued a “high terror risk warning” for Turkey, especially Istanbul, urging its citizens to stay away from crowded places and be careful.

The Consulate General of France in Istanbul has urged its citizens in Turkey to be careful due to the high risk of terrorist attacks. In a statement made on social media, it was stated that crowded places, including religious places, should be avoided.

The following warning was also posted on the website of the US Embassy:

“Following the recent Koran burning incidents in Europe, the US government is warning its citizens against possible retaliatory attacks by terrorists on places of worship in Turkey. Terrorists can attack with little or no warning, targeting places of worship or places frequented by Westerners.”

The German Foreign Ministry has warned about travel and security measures for Turkey. According to the update made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its website dated January 27, 2023, citizens in Istanbul were warned to be careful due to a possible terrorist attack.

‘Important note for the Germans in Turkey’ was written on the Twitter account of the German Embassy and the citizens of the country were warned.

The note argued that ‘there was a risk of an attack in Turkey’ and said the following: “After the incident of burning the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy in Sweden, according to the assessment of security officials, the risk of a terrorist attack in Turkey is increasing. Therefore, be especially vigilant and careful when visiting facilities that are open to international visitors, avoid crowds, public places and especially places of worship if possible.”
