The number of German tourists expected to exceed 5 million this year

The President of TÜRSAB has said “We will exceed the level of 5 million in the number of tourists coming from this country” noting that pensioners in Germany will prefer to vacation in Turkey this year.

According to German Free Independent Travel Agents Association (VUSR) has shared news saying German pensioners prefer to holiday in some countries to include Turkey as well. To support this statement the President of TURSAB has also said middle-aged and older tourists from different countries, mainly in European countries, preferred Turkey.

Stating that VUSR’s demand for subsidizing holiday sales by the German state is a new development, Bağlıkaya said that if this is the case, the holiday and travel movements of the middle-aged segment will accelerate. According to the news signed by Burcu Sen from Yeni Asır,

The President also noted that they expected more than 5 million tourists to come from Germany, this season.

Germany in the meantime is among the countries with a high number of elderly and retired people. According to the data of the German Pension Insurance Unit, the number of people receiving a pension in Germany is approaching 26 million.”

The President also noted that there was a noticeable increase in demand for Turkey for summer season bookings during negotiations with German tourism agencies adding “Another indicator is that German tour operators are starting to increase their aircraft seat capacity to Turkey.”

He went on to say, “The fact that our country and our tourism sector gave a good exam during the pandemic is another element that strengthens our hand in Germany.”
