BUILDINGS WILL BE INNSPECTED IN TURKEY

Murat KURUM, the Minister of Environment, Urbanism and Climate Change delivered the closing speech of the “Evaluation Meeting of the Turkish National Risk Shield Model Board” in Istanbul. The Minister announced that they would work with institutions such as Baykar to develop unmanned aerial and ground vehicles that can detect debris and damage. Noting that buildings such as vehicle inspection stations will also be subject to periodic inspection, he said, “We will implement the building identity document for all structures.”

Highlights from the Institution’s statements are as follows:

“We will spread disaster knowledge courses in all institutions. In order to ensure uninterrupted communication, it has been decided to strengthen the existing base stations against earthquakes and to make all communication with one-stop AFAD coordination.

“DETECTION OF RISKY BUILDINGS WILL BE COMPLETED”

“We will bring competence to our architects and engineers. Architects and engineers who have the knowledge to build the building will sign the works. The identification of buildings in places where there is a risk of river beds or landslide floods will be completed. We will complete the expropriation process for the appropriate areas. We will implement the process of removing public service buildings such as hospitals, schools from risky areas, transporting and strengthening them. We have made our decisions. We will take our steps by designing our applications according to the nature of the city. We will install structure monitoring systems in large dam structures. We will prepare the Turkish building inventory.”
