VISA PROBLEM FOR TURKS

It is stated that the rejection rate of Turkey in the Schengen visa is even higher than that of Russia, which is subject to sanctions by western states due to the Ukrainian war.

According to the data obtained from a visa portal named, 16.5 out of every 100 Schengen visa applications have been rejected in Turkey this year. This rate was 12.5 percent last year and 4 percent in 2015.

According to the BBC, the editor of the website said, “Schengen visa applications have increased around the world. But even compared to countries like Russia, the increase in Turkey is much larger and a steady increase.”

According to the data shared with the public on this website, which makes Schengen visa news, the acceptance and rejection rate can vary greatly depending on the country applied for and the embassy or consulate where the application was made.

The lowest rejection rate is in the applications made from Ankara for Luxembourg with 0.97 percent, while the highest is seen in the applications made from Ankara to Estonia with 59.28 percent.

While the rejection rate for applications made to Germany from Izmir is 16 percent, this almost doubles for applications made from Ankara.

Speaking to media, a sports announcer, presenter and reporter said that although she had traveled to EU countries 50-60 times, her visa applications had been rejected by both Germany and France this year. While Germany did not inform the reason for the refusal, France stated that they did not see enough evidence that she could finance herself in the country or that she would eventually return to Turkey. The application fee of 100 euros, which is equivalent to one third of the minimum wage in Turkey, is also not paid back in case of refusal.
