The detention of five people, including Greek MEP Eva Kaili, Vice-President of the European Parliament, on charges of receiving bribes from Qatar during operations in Brussels, has created a bombshell effect in the heart of Europe.

The Vice-President of the European Parliament, Greek MEP Eva Kaili, has been detained on charges of accepting bribes from Qatar. The detention of 5 people, including Kaili, accused of influencing parliamentary decisions by lobbying on behalf of Qatar, the host of the World Cup, caused a shock in Brussels. Kaili, a 44-year-old Greek Socialist MEP, was serving as Vice-President of the European Parliament in charge of relations with the Middle East.

During the search of 16 residences in the operations held yesterday, it was reported that Decili’s friend, the Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation, was among the names detained. It was noted that Visentini and the other detained people were Italian.
