The school break starts on January 20th. Ahead of the two-week holiday, it started to become clear which travel itineraries are most favored. Domestic culture and ski tours seem to have taken the first places in the list of holidaymakers. On the other hand thermal tours and some international destinations are also on the route list of those to go on holiday.

Based on observations, GAP tours covering the cities of Gaziantep, Sanlıurfa, Mardin, Cappadocia and the Black Sea region seem to enjoy the highest demand on these dates. For instance, the Black Sea stands out with many centers along the route from Sinop to Artvin and Ayder to Karagol.

Then again many “snow holiday alternatives” at spots such as Uludag, Kartalkaya, Kartepe, Ilgaz, Erciyes, Palandöken are observed to be center of attraction, as well.

Turkey has an abundance of alternatives for thermal tourism too and it is expected that centers in Yalova, Balıkesir, Kütahya, Kızılcahamam and Eskişehir will be quite crowded during the vacation.

Istanbul on the other hand offers so many alternative places nearby such as Abant, Sapanca, Eskisehir and Edirne. Another choice would be to spend this period in Istanbul as the mega city will be much less crowded and visit museums and cultural spots.

All in all, experts note that winter tourism spots and thermal zones stand out with high demand from holiday makers. Especially in ski resorts with recent snowfall occupancy rates seem to have reached 80 percent. Also, the Eastern Express, for example, already looks full during the semester.
