Reports show there is unluckily no reason why we should be optimistic about the light in the horizon as far as a cure for covid-19 is concerned in the near future. The threat is always at the door step waiting for us to make a small mistake. It goes without saying it is hell of a stress none of us (well at least many) can get over with.

This being the case, many countries in Europe have started to consider new measures to cope with this disaster with the minimum damage possible. Down below are some details about such steps.

Belgium

Belgium’s National Crisis Center said today that the corona virus outbreak continues to increase its impact in the country, and by the end of the week, the daily number of cases could reach 10 thousand. In an interview today, Yves Van Laethem, a spokesman for the Corona anti-virus Association, expressed concern about the course of the outbreak in the country and made statements about the second wave.

He said, “There is an almost exponential increase in the number of cases, ” Laethem said. There is also a significant increase in hospital admissions. Pressure is increasing in hospitals.”

The report, released by the National Institute of public health Sciensano said that an average of 4,154 new cases were reported daily in Belgium in the last seven days, which is equivalent to an 89 percent increase on a weekly basis. The Institute of Public Health said yesterday that the number of Covid-19 patients being treated in hospital increased by 53 per cent compared to October 4, reaching 1,329.

The Institute said that the loss of life due to Covid-19 in the country was 9.4 percent in the previous 7-day period, while in the last 7 days this figure increased to an average of 16.1 percent. The government is expected to introduce a curfew, restrictions on movement and a number of new measures to address the increase in cases and casualties.

Covid-19 has been detected in 162 thousand 258 people in Belgium so far, while 10 thousand 191 people have died due to the virus.

Italy

It was announced that 4 thousand 619 new cases of corona virus had been detected in Italy in the last 24 hours and 39 more people had died from the virus.

The total number of cases in the country reached 359,569 and the total loss of lives reached 36,205. It is reported that 240,600 people in the country have recovered from the virus.

Health Minister Roberto Speranza said parties without distinguishing children or adults could be banned and regulation could be introduced on the opening hours of restaurants and bars in the capital, Rome. Across the country, last week there was an obligation to wear masks outdoors.

France

A record was broken in the number of daily cases, with 26,896 new cases detected in the corona virus outbreak in France on October 10. After the escalating cases, an important statement came from French Prime Minister Jean Castex. “We are in a strong second wave,” Prime Minister Castex told the French press.

In the country, Lyon, Grenoble, Saint-Etienne and Lille were among the places given the maximum level of alarm, such as the capital Paris. Bars were closed in these areas, while strict rules were introduced for restaurants to remain open. New restrictions in the country came into effect when the rate of cases increased to 250 in 100 thousand people.

Germany

After increasing cases in Germany, nightlife was restricted in cities such as the capital Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt.

Many shops, restaurants and bars in Berlin have been closed from 23.00 to 06.00. Similar restrictions were imposed in Cologne and Frankfurt, while the sale of alcohol was banned after 22: 00. The restrictions will last until at least October 31.
