Fake booze disaster continues: The death toll rises to 43 with new casualties

Losses are growing rapidly in the fake drink disaster that began in Kırıkkale last Friday. The number of people who lost their lives in seven cities has risen to 43.

The highest number of deaths was observed in Izmir, where 18 people lost their lives. The death toll in Istanbul, where one person died yesterday, has risen to seven.

Seven people died in Kırıkkale and 18 in Izmir from the consumption of fake drinks, followed by reports of poisoning in four more cities. Six people died in Mersin, seven in Istanbul, two in Muğla, two in Aydın and two in Trabzon due to methyl alcohol poisoning, raising the death toll to 43.

Hakkı Oguzhan Şahinoğlu, a 36-year-old lawyer in Istanbul’s Kartal district, died of alcohol poisoning yesterday. According to police sources, as of 12:00, the number of people who died from fake drinking in Istanbul was seven.
