Airports in the UK are experiencing a lot of chaos due to lack of staff, while airline companies are forced to make cuts to their flights. Travel agencies, on the other hand, are happy with the reduction of flights, despite cancellation or additional burdens, imposed.

easyJet cancels 10 thousand flights

It is reported that easyJet which has the largest operation at this airport was had to cancel 10 thousand flights in July and August due to the shortage of staff from the airport,

The government, on the other hand, has taken the “use it or lose it” rule that applies to the use of slots, into consideration.

While easyJet’s planning for July-August was 97 percent of 2019, this planning was reduced to 90 percent, bringing the total to 160 thousand flights.

50 PERCENT BEHIND 2019

The company which planned to operate 900 flights a day at Gatwick Airport during the summer season, has reduced this number to 825 for July 850 for August. It is noted that the company is currently 50 percent behind 2019, at this airport.

easyJet CEO Johan Lundgren who said they had to deal with this problem, did not give a clear number of cancellations. Lundgren only said that a significant proportion of customers would not be affected by the problem.
