Germany takes over first place from Russia

The number of visitors to Antalya increased by 176 percent to 4 million 284 thousand, in 6-month period (January to end of June) compared to the same period last year. With these figures, Antalya is still 1 million 178 thousand numerically and 21.6 percent proportionally behind the same period of 2019, which was its best year.

GERMANY TAKES OVER RUSSIA’S THRONE

The sanctions imposed on the Russian civil aviation sector due to the Russia-Ukraine war were clearly reflected in the number of tourists arriving in Antalya. Russia, which were the leader of destinations in Antalya for many years, has declined to the second place as of the first 6 months of this year. The country that sent the highest number of tourists to Antalya in the first half of the year was Germany with 955 thousand, followed by Russia with 765 thousand, Great Britain with 434 thousand, Poland with 237 thousand and the Netherlands with 161 thousand. Kazakhstan, Israel, Lithuania, Romania and Sweden were the other countries that sent the most tourists to Antalya.
