Hike in energy prices will also hit pasta prices

The suitably priced flor application of the TMO, which applies to bread wheat, does not affect the pasta industry, but new hikes are expected in this product due to cost inflation.

Aykut Goymen, President of the Pasta Industrialists’ Association of Turkey, said that the latest hikes in natural gas and electricity today would raise pasta prices by another 5 percent in the next month due to the further increase in costs.

Göymen also stated that the price of a package of pasta had increased from around 4 TL to around 7 TL in the last year, and that there was a slight decrease in pasta sales by quantity in May 2022 compared to the same month of the previous year due to increases in prices.
