Partial curfew to be held in Turkey due to school entrance exams on June 20-27 & 28

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has made an announcement informing “based on recommendations of the Science Board and the instructions given by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan PARTIAL CURFEW will be held on June 20 and 27-28 due to school exams on these dates“.

The central examinations which  are called LGS and YKS will be held on June 20 and June 27-28 respectively. LGS is the exam for High School Transition system (LGS) and YKS is the exam for entrance to Higher Education Institutions.

This decision has to do with the likely intensity supposed to be experienced on these dates as millions of students will need to travel to the places exams will be held. This curfew is supposed to be during most crowded hours which will be during the hours of departure to and return from to the exam locations.

The Minister also said: “the Interior Ministry will announce today what hours the restriction should be between”.

UPDATE – Last minute … curfew hours are set

Citizens in 81 cities will be restricted to take to the streets

on Saturday, June 20, 2020, between
09:00 and 15:00

and on Saturday June 27, 2020 between 09.30 am and 15.00 pm
and on Sunday June 28, 2020 between 09.30 am and 18.30 pm

(this wont apply to exceptional situations announced by authority)
