Interior Ministry rearranges opening hours of grocery stores during curfew on April 23-24

The Ministry of the Interior sent a circular to the governor’s office to inform that in cities of metropolitan status such as Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bursa, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Izmir, Istanbul, Antalya, Kayseri, Kocaeli, Konya, Malatya, Manisa, Mardin, Mersin, Antalya, Ordu, Sakarya, Samsun, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon, Van and Zonguldak, a curfew would be in effect between April 22 and 26 (24:00 hours) and all citizens within the borders of said provinces would be restricted to leave home.

The Ministry also informed governorates on the curfew to be imposed in 31 provinces on April 23, 24, 25 and 26. According to the circular, due to the beginning of the month of Ramadan 21 and 22 April, the opening hours of markets and grocery stores were determined as 08.00-23.00. On April 23 and 24 which will be curfew days as well, the grocery stores and grocery stores will operate between 09.00 and 14.00, and citizens can commute to and from grocery stores near their residence.

The circular targets to minimize the impact of curfew restriction on daily life, due to the beginning of the month of Ramadan. Therefore, on Thursday (April 23) and Friday (April 24) markets and grocery stores will be able to operate between 09.00-14.00 hours.

Citizens (except those who are 65 years of age or older and 20 years of age or under) can go to and from the nearest convenience stores and grocery stores, provided that they are limited to meeting their mandatory needs and not using a vehicle (except for disabled citizens).
