Russia’s consul general in Antalya has made a statement saying if the vaccine works are successful the number of Russian tourists to come to Turkey may rise exponentially.

Russia’s consul general who paid a visit to Demre in Antalya and met with Demre mayor Okan KOCAKAYA shared following: “Demre is a very important place for us. It connects Russia with Demre, the St. Nicholas Memorial Museum and Andrey Karlov Monument, Andrey Karlov Street. We are here today to make sure we do not forget Andrey Karlov (Russian Amassador who was assassinated in Turkey). Andrey Karlov was a good Turkish friend, a very good diplomat.

His memory lives on in Demre. Tens of thousands of Russian tourists who come to Demre every year, commemorate him. We will not forget our Ambassador Andrey Karlov. Maybe today I’ll commemorate him alone. But I want to point out that I’m here for him. Because of the pandemic, we will lay a wreath on the Andrey Karlov Monument. We are the country that sends the most tourists to Turkey this year. If the vaccine works are successful, the number of Russian tourists arriving this year will increase exponentially.”
