Turkey’s health minister says 4,603 passengers from UK in isolation

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has announced that all passengers arriving from the UK has been identified since December 14 and that 4,603 passengers have been placed in isolation in their residences and hotels.

Minister Koca made a statement on his Twitter account, sharing that flights from the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark and South Africa to Turkey had been suspended on the night of December 20 after a Coronavirus mutation detected in the UK and that they had announced measures to be taken for passengers who were flying at the time.

The Minister went on to say, “335 passengers who entered our country from these countries the previous night underwent a health check and underwent a PCR test. Passengers receive PCR samples on the 1st and 7th day. All passengers were isolated, even if their tests came back negative. All passengers from the UK have been identified as of 14 December. Information about 4 thousand 603 passengers has been transferred to the system and they have been isolated in their residences or hotels. PCR tests are carried out under the Coordination of our General Directorate of public health for these passengers.”
