“In fact, a new modern resort will be built on the west coast of Crimea,” Kabanov said, adding that the total area of the resort, including five kilometers of beach strip, will be about 500 hectares.

Crimean leader Sergey Aksenov had given assurances last Wednesday after news of Turkey’s closure that the peninsula was fully prepared to accept the projected flow of passengers.

Based on news shared by Sputnik more than 6 million tourists are expected to travel to Crimea this year. That’s 20 percent more than the previous year. The success of the holiday season will depend on the pace of vaccination on the peninsula, Aksenov said.
