While Turkey’s recent statements giving the green light to dialogue with the Assad administration in Syria have maintained their place on the agenda, the Iranian press has made a remarkable claim.

“PUT AN END TO YOUR POLITICAL ACTIVITIES IN TURKEY

The Iranian news agency Tasnim, in an exclusive report, suggested that Ankara has called on the National Coalition of Syrian Opposition and Revolutionary Forces (SMDK) to leave Turkey. The report, based on several sources, said that an official from Turkey, who is reviewing relations with Damascus, held a meeting with the head of the SMDK, Salim al-Muslat, last week. The unnamed Turkish official reportedly said, “Ankara is determined to restore relations with Damascus, and the Syrian opposition should accept this fact” during the meeting.

Tasnim reported that Ankara wanted the Syrian opposition organization to go to a new country by ending all political and media activities in Turkey. Sources stated that SMDK leader Al-Muslat also had accepted the request to leave Turkey and offered to go to Saudi Arabia. It was noted that the head of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdurrahman Mustafa, had proposed to go to Jordan.
