Islands in the Sea of Marmara were flooded by holidaymakers on Eid al-Adha. Marmara Islands Mayor Suleyman Aksoy has said the total population of Avsha, Marmara and Ekinlik islands with 15 thousand population has increased by 15 fold.

During the holiday of Eid al-Adha, citizens from all over Turkey flocked to coastal cities. The islands in the Sea of Marmara also attracted great interest from holidaymakers.

Avsha, Marmara and Ekinlik islands with a total population of about 15 thousand, have seen an increase of 15 fold during the Eid al-Adha holiday. Due to the density, the permits of municipal employees were cancelled. The island most preferred by holidaymakers was Avsha Island. The density on the beaches also drew attention.

NO VACANCIES

“All hotels, motels, hostels in Avsha, Marmara and Ekinlik islands are full” said Suleyman Aksoy, the mayor of the Marmara Islands, who stated that there was no room left in the hotels or motels on the islands. The crowd in houses has increased. The population has gone up by 15-fold.

He said “As the municipality, we have done all kinds of work. We have no problem with water. 6,500 tons are produced per day. Our city teams work 24 hours a day. All permissions have been removed. They work on a 24-hour basis. We’ll have a beautiful holiday without accidents and without trouble. Our seas are clean. Although there is a little mucilage in the open, the beaches are clean.”
