Travel restriction announcement from Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines has warned passengers about the decision to restrict travel to Turkey from 5 countries under the Omicron variant measures. Health Minister Fahrettin Koca had announced that travel from Botswana, South African Republic, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe to Turkey via all land, air, sea and rail border crossings was not allowed due to the increasing cases caused by the Omicron variant.
Turkish Airlines (THY) has warned its passengers about the travel restriction. A statement from THY said:
* The following decisions have been taken by the official authorities of the Republic of Turkey regarding entry into the country as of November 27, 2021, within the scope of measures to combat the global outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).
* Flights from South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe have been stopped until further notice.
* Passengers who have been to any of these countries within the last 14 days and plan to enter Turkey from another country must submit a negative PCR test result made no more than 72 hours before entering Turkey.
* These passengers will be quarantined for 14 days in places designated by the governorates. If the PCR test result to be performed on the day of quarantine is negative, the quarantine processes will be terminated.
* Those who do not have a PCR test on day 10, will be kept in quarantine for 14 days, and if the test results are positive, it will be handled in accordance with the current pandemic guide published by the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey.
* Fees related to accommodation and transfer from airports will be borne by passengers.
* Passengers who will be quarantined must have paid the accommodation fee before arriving in Turkey.
* Passengers who have not paid the relevant fee will not be accepted to the flight.
