TURKISH MINISTERS GO TO RUSSIA FOR TOURISM

After Russia suspended flights to Turkey, Ankara is preparing to start a new initiative with Russia to see more Russian tourists in the country. The government, which will launch intensive tourism diplomacy, is sending three ministers to Russia.

After the full closure process, which began the previous day and will end on May 17, the number of coronavirus cases across Turkey is expected to decline, while the countdown for the tourist season has also begun.

In this context, efforts are being accelerated to attract foreign tourists to Turkey. An intensive “tourism diplomacy” will be initiated with Russia, the country that sends the most tourists to Turkey.

THREE MINISTERS TO GO RUSSIA TO ACCELERATE TOURISM

After Russia suspended flights to Turkey, Ankara is reported to have planned to send Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca and culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri to Moscow this month. The three ministers, who will meet with their Russian counterparts, will attempt to restart flights between Russia and Turkey this summer.

CAVUSOGLU TO PROPOSE GERMANY MODEL

Foreign Minister Cavusoglu will point out that Turkey has entered the closure for about three weeks, which will result in a significant drop in the number of cases. He will discuss the resumption of flights from Russia to Turkey with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, the Turkish daily reported.

He will present the model of tourism implemented with Germany last year, to his counterpart.  He will suggest the option where heavily visited holiday regions such as Antalya, Muğla, Izmir, Aydin, such as Russian tourists are exempt from the travel warning.

KOCA TO SHARE DETAILED CASE TABLE OF 4 PROVINCES

Health Minister Koca will also share with his Russian counterparts a table of cases that will occur throughout Turkey with the rate of vaccination throughout Turkey and “complete closure”.

Minister Koca will also express the details of the Covid-19 case situation in tourism destinations such as Antalya, Aydın, Muğla and Izmir. Koca’s agenda will also include cooperation on the Sputnik V vaccine.
