Turkey’s Head of Religious Affairs announces Friday prayers not to be held in mosques

Ali Erbaş, the head of Religious Affairs announced the measures taken against the corona virus in a live broadcast. He said mosques would remain open but it had become necessary to halt Friday noon prayers as well as others with the crowd in mosques until the risk of the disease spreading was eliminated.

He particularly emphasized that Friday and time prayers would not be performed in mosques together with the crowd and added those who wanted to pray alone could enter mosques.

Erbas also announced that it had been deemed appropriate to keep mosques open for prayers and those who wish to perform prayers individually by taking the necessary measures.
