TURKEY UK TRADE PARTNERS

The UK and Turkey have announced their intention to start negotiations for a new free trade agreement. It was stated that this new agreement would replace the existing trade agreement, covering only products.

The UK and Turkey have announced plans to start negotiations for an updated free trade agreement. The new agreement will replace the existing free trade agreement left over from the period when the UK left the European Union and does not cover key areas such as services, digital and data.

The announcement came after a telephone conversation between Kemi Badenoch, the British Minister of State for International Trade, and Ömer Bolat, the Turkish Minister of Trade, last week, in which they pledged to negotiate a new agreement and deepen trade relations between the two countries.

TURKEY IS AN IMPORTANT TRADING PARTNER FOR U.K.

About the planning in question, Badenoch said “Turkey is an important trading partner for the United Kingdom, and this agreement is the latest example of how we are using our status as an independent trading country post-Brexit to negotiate agreements that match the economic strength of the United Kingdom.” I look forward to using this agreement to deepen UK-Turkey trade relations, accelerate economic growth and support companies in the country.”

In July, it was stated that the British Export Minister Lord Offord would also visit Turkey to discuss investment and export opportunities and meet with business world representatives.
