CBRT DECISION REGARDING INTEREST RATE

It has been suggested that KAVCIOGLU, the President of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), has given signals that the interest rate cut will be discontinued. After the allegation, Mert Yılmaz, Deputy General Manager of Info Investment, who attended the meeting, posted a message on social media.

It was shared on media that Kavcıoğlu, the President of the CBRT, had allegedly said at the investor meeting held last week that the probability of no interest rate cut at the meeting on December 16 had increased.

According to Bloomberg HT, Credit Suisse analysts noted that CBRT President Shahap Kavcioglu had said at an investor meeting last week that there was an increased likelihood of no interest rate cut on December 16.

“My understanding is that no interest rate cuts are being considered for the first half of 2022”

However, Mert Yilmaz, Deputy General Manager of Info Investment who attended the meeting on the subject, said, “I also attended the CBRT meeting. I did not receive a message for December from what the president said. In particular, I did not receive the message at all, that the probability of making an interest rate cut had decreased. The emphasis on limited space was already on the PPK text as well. My understanding is that no interest rate cuts are being considered for the first half of 2022.”
