Hunger limit for a family of 4 is 3 thousand 526 Turkish liras

MEMUR-SEN (Union of Civil Servants) has calculated the hunger limit of a family of four at 3,526 liras and the poverty limit at 10,119 liras, as of December 2021. The results of a “Hunger and Poverty Survey” conducted by MEMUR-SEN every month on a monthly basis, have been announced, for the last month. According to this calculation, the hunger limit of a family of four was 3,526 Turkish liras in December 2021, and the poverty limit was 10,119 TL.

Food prices increased by an average of 10.60 percent compared to the previous month. The largest noticeable increase was in the price of eggplants with 59 percent, cucumbers with 49.79 percent, wheat flour with 44.08 percent, margarine with 43.87 percent.

In terms of heating expenses, an average increase of 9.29 percent was observed last month compared to November 2021, while housing prices also increased by 1.65 percent.

During the same period, there was an average increase of 7.35 percent in clothing prices and a 9 percent increase in personal cleaning and maintenance prices.
