Shooting at shopping mall in Danish capital Copenhagen

GUN SHOOTING IN DENMARK

Police say several people have been killed in a shooting at a shopping mall in the Danish capital Copenhagen. Announcing the deaths, police chief Soeren Thomassen said a 22-year-old Danish man had been arrested in connection with the attack.

Thomassen said the motive was unclear, but could not rule out an “act of terrorism.” Witnesses Decried panic among shoppers as gunshots were heard inside the Field mall in the south of the city.

Someone told the Jyllands-Posten newspaper: “You didn’t know what was going on. Suddenly there was just chaos everywhere.” Another witness, told TV 2 that the shooter was carrying a “shotgun.”

Mr Thomassen said it was too early to say exactly how many people were hurt in the attack. He said there was no indication that other shooters were involved.

Field’s is the largest shopping center in Denmark with more than 140 shops and restaurants.
